One Direction tiene dos nominaciones a los MTV Video Music Awards 2012

La banda británica fue nominada a mejor artista nuevo y mejor video pop.

One Direction ha sido nominado para los MTV Video Music Awards 2012, que serán presentados el 6 de septiembre en el Staples Center en Los Ángeles.

La banda de chicos ingleses recibió dos nominaciones para el espectáculo, una a Mejor Video Pop por "What Makes You Beautiful" y Mejor Artista Nuevo.

One Direction ha estado en una buena racha desde que llegó al tercer lugar en "Factor X" del Reino Unido en 2010. El grupo es ahora uno de los grupos más reconocidos a nivel mundial por tener éxitos N º 1 y haber agotado las entradas de su tour en varios países.

El grupo también ha ganado la mayoría de los premios en los que ha participado como los Brit Award y varios premios Nickelodeon Kids 'Choice en el Reino Unido y en los Teen Choice Awards.

Fans habían estado especulando en Twitter que el grupo podría hacer una aparición en el centro comercial, pero nada había sido confirmado antes de la aparición de Niall y Liam.

Varias fotos publicadas en Internet muestran al dúo actuando cerca de una escalera eléctrica en el centro comercial en donde fueron respaldados por una pequeña banda durante la actuación.

Se reporta que una de las pistas que Niall y Liam interpretaron fue su más grande éxito, "What Makes You Beautiful".

Tras su actuación, la pareja se dirigió hacia el estacionamiento con hordas de fans detrás de ellos.

Una empleada de una empresa con sede en Westfield y fan de 1D dijo que estaba feliz de ver a la banda en un ambiente tan íntimo y que ahora "se siente tan cercana a ellos".

Mientras tanto, en Twitter, Ben Eade escribió, "¡Niall y Liam de 1D cantando en el centro comercial Westfield! #onedirection #Westfield #buskin".

One Direction logra 12 millones de unidades vendidas en un año

   

One Direction logró vender 12 millones de unidades a nivel mundial en menos de un año, incluyendo 8 millones de sencillos, 3 millones de álbumes y 1 millón de DVDs.

Para celebrar este logro la banda recibió un reconocimiento especial por parte de Syco, el sello de  Simon Cowell, y Sony Music.

Su álbum debut, “Up all night” llegó al número en listados de ventas en 16 países, incluyendo los Estados Unidos (donde se convirtieron en la primera banda inglesa en debutar en el número 1 de charts de Billboard) y el Perú. 

Asimismo ha sido certificado como Álbum de Platino por la venta de un millón de unidades, mientras que el sencillo “What makes you beautiful” ha logrado vender 3 millones de copias en los Estados Unidos y 5 millones a nivel mundial. 

Liam, integrate de la banda comenta: “Recibimos este premio con mucha humildad. Tenemos un equipo increíble de gente con nosotros que nos ayuda a lograr nuestros objetivos. Pero por sobre todo, queremos agradecer a nuestras fanáticas. Les debemos a ellas todo nuestro éxito”.

One Direction se presentará el 6 de septiembre en los MTV Music Awards, donde han sido nominados a las categorías de Mejor Grupo Pop y Mejor video Pop. 

El grupo ofrecerá un concierto el 3 de diciembre en el Madison Square Graden de Nueva York, antes de salir en su gira mundial en 2013. 

One Direction managed to sell 12 million units worldwide in less than a year, including 8 million singles, 3 million albums and 1 million DVDs.
