One Direction es la banda de moda, lo tienen todo para serlo: son chicos jóvenes, guapos, cantan muy correctamente y, como no podía ser de otra manera, la idea de ser grupo no fue suya sino de la jueza de «X Factor», Nicole Scherzinger.  Una vez juntados los cinco chicotes, Simon Cowell decidió entonces aportar su granito de arena anual a la música y firmarles un contrato de 2 millones de libras que les puso en la órbita de la escena. Y es que no es la primera vez que Simon Cowell aprovecha su jugoso programa de televisión para forrarse a costa de los concursantes, ya lo hizo con Paul Potts, Susan Boyle (con sus talentos y sus locuritas), Leona Lewis, etc; salvo alguna que pasó de él, como Emelí Sandé, que supo ver que su talento no se lo robaba el magnate. Todo un hombre de negocios, eso sí. 

Superaron a Rihanna
Inicios aparte, la trayectoria que han demostrado los nuevos Take That es imparable. Están arrasando allá por donde pasan, y así lo vimos la pasada semana en la entrega de los MTV Awards, superando hasta a la mismísima reina de la confusión, Rihana, y consiguiendo la estatuilla al mejor vídeo, entre otros.

Y lo que les viene encima no es moco de pavo. Con su primer disco, «Up all Night», la banda consiguió la friolera de tres millones de copias vendidas, eso de momento, ya que la cosa está empezando a pitar por aquí. Ahora preparan el lanzamiento de su segundo disco, que lleva el título de «Take Me Home» y con el que seguro terminarán de conquistar los corazones de las seguidoras más gritonas. No sé como se lo tomará Justin Bieber, aunque dicen que desde que le ha cambiado la voz, sus más pequeñas admiradoras lo ven como si fuera Johnny Cash.

Lo que no podemos negar a estos chicos son sus récords. Con su primer single, «Whats Makes You Beuatiful», arrasaron en ventas y se colocaron nº1 en UK pero con su primer disco, entraron nº 1 en la lista Bildboard, cosa que no ha conseguido nadie en su historia. Y Bildboard no son los 40 principales, ahí supuestamente mantienen cierto rigor, así que algo tendrá su música. Y lo cierto es que si lo escuchas, está bien tocada, muy correcta, con una producción muy cuidada en detalles y que siempre mantiene las voces de estos ingleses como vehículo por el que se mueve toda la música.

Los mejores de la séptima edición 
One Direction se forjó en los despachos del programa «X Factor», concretamente en su 7ª edición. Al no tener éxito por separado, les propusieron cantar juntos y desde entonces, no se han vuelto a separar. Algunos son de Inglaterra y otros nacieron en Irlanda.
